Lock the Shapes you have finished
A Shape you have finished can still be ruined. A drag aimed at the Shape beside it moves it, or a Delete meant for another Shape removes it, and you may not notice until training.
In Labelme v7.9.0, select one or more Shapes and choose Edit › Lock Shapes, or press Ctrl+Shift+L (⇧⌘L on macOS). Labelme then refuses to move, reshape, rotate, relabel, merge or delete them. You can still select, copy, duplicate, hide and reorder a locked Shape. The same command, now named Unlock Shapes, removes the lock.
A locked Shape looks the same on the canvas. The Shape List shows a lock before its label, and the status bar says Shape is locked when you hover over it.
Locked and unlocked Shapes together
When a selection mixes locked and unlocked Shapes, moving and deleting act only on the unlocked ones. A pasted or duplicated copy starts unlocked, and so do Shapes that Keep Previous Annotation carries to the next Image. Undo reverts a lock or an unlock.
Saved in the annotation file
Labelme writes "locked": true on each locked Shape. A file with no locked Shapes is saved exactly as before.
Only Labelme v7.9.0 and later enforce the lock. Older versions keep the key when they save the file but let you edit the Shape, and a script that edits the JSON has to check the key itself. The implementation lists every edit the lock blocks.
