Qt library replacement

Labelme desktop releases bundle the Qt and Qt for Python (PySide6) libraries under the GNU Lesser General Public License version 3. You may replace them with modified versions. The licenses/SOURCE.txt file in the application folder names the Qt version and where to get its source; build your modified library from that source with a compatible configuration, then follow the steps for your platform. Quit Labelme before replacing a file, and keep a copy of the original.

Windows (installer or portable)

Open the application folder: C:\Program Files\Labelme for the installer, or the extracted folder for the portable build.
Replace each copy of the library under lib\PySide6 (for example, Qt6Core.dll) with your build.
Start Labelme.exe.

macOS

Copy Labelme.app from Applications to a folder you can write to.
Replace the library in Labelme.app/Contents/Resources/lib (for example, QtCore) with your build.
Replacing a file invalidates the app signature. Re-sign every file in that folder with an ad-hoc signature: find Labelme.app/Contents/Resources/lib -type f -exec codesign --force --sign - --options 0 {} +
Re-sign the app: codesign --force --sign - --options 0 Labelme.app
Open the app. Because the copy is no longer notarized, macOS may ask you to allow it in System Settings > Privacy & Security.

Linux (AppImage)

Extract the AppImage: ./Labelme-*.AppImage --appimage-extract, which creates squashfs-root.
Replace each copy of the library under squashfs-root (find them with, for example, find squashfs-root -name 'libQt6Core.so*') with your build.
Start squashfs-root/AppRun.
